Course

Our full-day introductory workshop. Typically includes tutorials on topics like open source community norms, issue trackers, IRC and Git; a career panel; and a contributions workshop where attendees make their first contributions to FOSS projects.

Workshop Description

Time to bring Open Source to the New York City Metro Area! We are gearing up for the first workshop in NYC, which will be hosted by the New York City College of Technology, an institution that is part of the CUNY system.

Transportation and Parking

The building is located at 186 Jay St.

The building is easily accessible by subway, by the A, C, & F lines at Jay St station. Once you exit the station, walk North for 3-4 blocks until the glass-cladded building is in view.

By highway, the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway. Take the Tillary St exit, continue onto Jay St, take a right, and drive 1-2 blocks until the glass-cladded building appears on your left.

Preparing for the Event

For visitors, We strongly advise that you come with a Laptop or mobile device that's easy to type on.
Other than that, come in attentive, and with an open mind to learning and meeting new people.
Also, do feel free to bring in a project or some code that you've been working on.
